Breaking LinkedIn Severity: critical

LinkedIn sunsets the legacy Shares and UGC Posts APIs and unversioned APIs

AnnouncedJan 2023
Effective30 Jun 2023
Time left2023-06-30

What changed

LinkedIn introduced monthly API versions and the new Content APIs (Images, Videos, Posts, Creatives) in June 2022. The January 2023 changelog told partners to migrate before February 28, 2023. By May and June 2023 the changelog gave June 30, 2023 as the date the unversioned APIs and the legacy Shares and UGC APIs were sunset. The current Posts API page states that it replaces the ugcPosts API.

What it means

Integrations still calling the Shares API, the UGC Posts API or unversioned endpoints stop working and must move to the versioned Posts, Images and Videos APIs.

Who is affected

Scheduling tools and custom scripts that publish to LinkedIn profiles or Company Pages through the old Shares or UGC Posts endpoints.

What to do by 30 Jun 2023

Move to the versioned Posts API (https://api.linkedin.com/rest/posts) and send the Linkedin-Version header. The cutoff was June 30, 2023.

The earlier February 28, 2023 date appears in the January and February 2023 changelog sections. The later sections (May and June 2023) use June 30, 2023, so that is the date used here.
