Buffer vs Hootsuite (2026): price per channel or price per seat
Pick Buffer if you are one person or a small team posting to a handful of channels: it has a free plan and paid channels start at $5 a month on annual billing. Pick Hootsuite only if you need a team platform with approvals and an inbox and can pay $99 or more per user per month.
-
Buffer vs Later (2026): wide network coverage or visual planning
Choose Later if your work is mostly Instagram and TikTok and you plan visually: one social set of 8 profiles starts at $18.75 a month on annual billing. Choose Buffer if you also post to X, Bluesky, Mastodon or Google Business Profile, which Later does not list, or if you want a free plan.
-
Buffer vs PlanPost (2026): free plan and breadth or revenue tracking
Buffer is the better pick if you want a free plan or need Pinterest, Bluesky, Mastodon or Google Business Profile. PlanPost suits founders who want to see which posts bring revenue, or who want AI agents to schedule through its API and MCP server, at a flat $19.99 a month for up to 15 accounts.
-
Buffer vs Publer (2026): two per-account schedulers compared
Both are good budget picks with the same pricing model. Publer is slightly cheaper per account ($4 a month on annual billing against Buffer's $5) and includes API and MCP access on its Business plan. Publer's free plan leaves out X.
-
Hootsuite vs Sprout Social (2026): two per-seat team platforms
On paper Sprout Social's Essentials seat ($79 a month, annual) is cheaper than Hootsuite Standard ($99 a month, annual), but it covers 5 profiles against Hootsuite's 10. Teams that need API access should note that Sprout includes it only from the Advanced plan.
