Pricing

  • Later sells social sets. Starter is $18.75 a month on annual billing for 1 social set of 8 profiles, 1 user and 30 posts per profile. Growth is $37.50 and Scale is $82.50 on annual billing.
  • Buffer charges per channel: $5 a month on Essentials with annual billing. Eight channels would be $40 a month.

So for a full set of 8 profiles, Later's entry plan is cheaper. For two or three channels, Buffer is cheaper, and its free plan covers up to 3.

Later's month-to-month prices are rendered by JavaScript on its pricing page and we could not read them directly. The annual figures above come from the page itself.

Networks

Later lists Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Threads and Pinterest. It does not list X or Bluesky. Buffer lists all of those plus X, Bluesky, Google Business Profile and Mastodon.

API

Buffer has a public API. Later does not list one for customers.

Who should choose which

  • Later: Instagram and TikTok first brands and creators who plan a grid visually and want link-in-bio built in.
  • Buffer: anyone who needs breadth across networks, especially text networks like X, Bluesky and Mastodon.
