Policy TikTok Severity: medium
TikTok makes URL ownership verification mandatory for new apps
What changed
The September 9, 2024 changelog says URL ownership verification is mandatory for app configuration and applies only to apps created after the effective date. The media transfer guide adds that URLs for PULL_FROM_URL must use HTTPS, must not redirect, and must belong to a verified domain or URL prefix.
What it means
New TikTok apps must verify the domains or URL prefixes they use, and pull-from-URL uploads only work for verified media sources.
Who is affected
Developers of new TikTok apps, and tools that post by pulling video from their own server.
What to do by 9 Sept 2024
Verify your domain or URL prefix in the TikTok for Developers portal before configuring your app or using PULL_FROM_URL.
