Breaking Bluesky
bsky.network firehose moves to a new relay
What changed
On January 27, 2026, the bsky.network firehose switched from the old bigsky relay (narelay.pop2.bsky.network) to relay1.us-west.bsky.network, and the old relay was shut down one to two weeks later. Cursors jumped forward, some events arrived again with higher sequence numbers, and old cursors no longer replay the full 72-hour window. Jetstream users were mostly unaffected because it uses timestamp cursors.
What it means
Firehose consumers must auto-reconnect and deduplicate events by rev, because the cursor jumps forward and some events repeat.
