X API launches pay-per-use credit pricing
What changed
X made pay-per-use pricing generally available on February 6, 2026, after a closed pilot announced on October 20, 2025. Developers buy credits up front and each call is charged by endpoint. Recently active Legacy Free users received a one-time $10 voucher, and the Basic and Pro plans remained available.
What it means
New X API developers buy prepaid credits and pay per request, so cost estimates need to be rebuilt per endpoint.
