YouTube Analytics traffic source queries error when videos times days exceeds 50,000
What changed
From 18 November 2024, reports.query returns an error for Traffic Source reports when the number of queried videos multiplied by the number of days exceeds 50,000. This applies to channel and content owner reports. The revision history gives the example of 500 video IDs allowing at most 100 days.
What it means
Large traffic source queries that used to return data now return an error.
Who is affected
Developers of analytics dashboards that query YouTube traffic source reports for many videos over long date ranges.
What to do by 18 Nov 2024
Keep the number of video IDs multiplied by the number of days at or below 50,000 per reports.query call, for example 500 videos for at most 100 days. Split larger requests.
