YouTube adds derived metrics and data storage policies for audited developers
What changed
On 4 May 2026 YouTube added Additional policies on derived metrics and data storage to its API Services developer policies. They apply only to audited developers with analytics use cases who apply for permission to create additional metrics or to store statistical data. On 1 June 2026 the policy was clarified so that approved use cases may store some statistical data for longer than 30 days. The quota extension form also mentions public stats stored for up to 36 months.
What it means
Analytics tools that build custom scores or store YouTube statistics beyond 30 days now need approval.
Who is affected
Developers of analytics products that create custom scores or earnings estimates, or keep YouTube statistics for longer than 30 days.
What to do by 1 Jun 2026
If you need extra derived metrics or longer storage, apply through the standard quota extension form, which accepts these requests from 1 June 2026.
