YouTube Data API moves videos.insert and search.list to separate quota buckets
What changed
The YouTube Data API is moving to a granular quota system in which videos.insert and search.list are charged to their own buckets and every other method stays in the existing one. A new videos.batchGetStats method, added June 3, 2026, also has its own bucket with a default of 10,000 units per day. No default quota is stated for the new upload and search buckets.
What it means
Projects should track quota for uploads and search separately from other methods and request increases per bucket through the Quota Extension Form.
