What changed

The 30 October 2024 revision history entry adds support for identifying altered or synthetic content. The status.containsSyntheticMedia property can be set on videos.insert and videos.update. The entry does not say what content must be labelled, so check YouTube's own disclosure rules for that.

What it means

Uploads made through the API can now carry the altered or synthetic content disclosure.

Who is affected

Developers of upload tools and marketers who publish AI generated or edited video on YouTube.

What to do

Add a disclosure toggle to your upload flow and set status.containsSyntheticMedia on videos.insert or videos.update when the video needs the label.
