How to schedule Threads posts in 2026

What Meta has said about scheduling on Threads, what's still unconfirmed, and how third-party schedulers publish to Threads through its API.

Facts checked 25 Oct 2026

The short version

On 15 August 2024, Meta announced drafts for Threads and said scheduling would begin testing soon. Since then, no Meta help page we could find documents a built-in scheduler, its limits or who has it. If your composer shows a schedule option, use it. Otherwise, a third-party scheduler is the documented route.

What we can confirm

  • Drafts: Meta's announcement says you can save up to 100 drafts.
  • Text limit: 500 characters per post.
  • Editing: a published post can be edited for 15 minutes, text only.

How schedulers post to Threads

The Threads API has no scheduling parameter. A tool creates a media container, then publishes it in a second call at your chosen time. Meta recommends waiting about 30 seconds between the two calls.

RuleLimit
Posts per profile250 in a rolling 24 hours (a carousel counts as one)
Replies1,000 in 24 hours
Carousels2 to 20 images or videos
Unpublished containersExpire after 24 hours

Meta tells apps to enforce these limits themselves, especially apps that let users schedule ahead. A tool also needs Meta's approval for publishing access. Until it has that, it can only post for test accounts.

Draft and check posts against the 500-character limit with the character counter. The Threads hub lists the schedulers that publish to Threads.
